Hootsuite certification exam (week #15)

At the end of my course I had to take the Hootsuite final social media certification exam. Unfortunately, after 3 tries I still scored a 53 so I did not earned the certificate. The exam itself is 51 multiple choice questions and gives you an hour to complete. It is very long and I had a hard time understanding it. You can retake the exam as many times as you want and I will problaby continue re-taking it until I pass during the summer.

The company Gopuff tweets very often. Their tweets include promotions, polls and pictures. Their tweets are funny, entertaining and relatable targeting their audience which is mostly young people. Gopuff is a delivery app that provides fast deliveries on groceries and fast food. Asking what people are going to order tonight or providing promotion codes on their tweets is giving them a lot of engagement on their tweets. Tweeting polls or questions lets them interact with their followers and keep them engaged, making their Ad’s and promotions successful. Targeting their audience in a fun way, Gopuff has made a name for themselves.

Should you switch to SIGNAL? (week# 9)

Have you ever worried about third parties reading your messages? An App called Signal is on the market now for a while. Signal is a messenger app that uses end-to-end encryption codes to keep what you share safe and private. It is also free. You are able to send messages, voice messages, GIFs and videos within the app. Signal is promoted by people like Elon musk and Edward Snowden. The app is simple to use and has a similarity to iMessages. The app also provides the option of deleting messages similar to snapchat. Security and privacy in these digital times is more important than ever.

My thoughts on meta (week #5)

Image
I think Facebook rebranding to meta is a good thing. If we really think about it, we are already living in the metaverse. But people tend to be afraid of new things, afraid of change so many are uncomfortable with the idea of Mark Zuckerberg’s vision. I, for one don’t care much for Facebook but I do like the idea of the metaverse. Having more opportunities to work from home sound great to me. Having more ways to connect and interact with friendships through out the world is also great. I can say I’m excited for what’s to come. When I first read about it I immediately thought of the movie “ready player one” which I just rewatched last night and that seems what’s about to happen.  Image by  juliac2006

What a hoot… (week #4)

My experience with Hootsuite academy After finishing chapter 1 & 2 on Hootsuite academy in the social media marketing course I can say it has been very informative. The videos are short and easy to follow along. Yet I still wished for more interactive features than just a short quiz at the end of each chapter to see the learning progress made so far.  Image by  Mark Smiciklas   So far I have learned social media strategies for businesses as well as personal use, how to use social media effectively and how to promote content for a professional social media account. Hootsuite offers good examples of strategies to apply directly on social media accounts like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  Image by  Lorraine Harrison

Hello          My name is Nathalie Schmidt, my friends call me Natz. I'm currently a CIS student at LCCC going for my associates degree. My goal is to transfer to Penn state for a bachelors degree in computer science. Computers are a big part of our life nowadays and since I was a kid I wanted to work with computers. I’m 26 years old and just started my college journey. I chose to travel and work instead of going to school for a couple of years. I gained a lot of life experiences this way and my friends say I could write a book about my journeys, well here I am trying out a blog! Growing up in the Dominican Republic, we didn’t have very much but life was great, I loved it and see it as my home. I love the ocean and nature itself. When I got older I moved to Germany and that’s where my interest for computers & languages came from, my father. Because of him I’m now fluent in three languages those being English, Spanish and German but interested in so ma...
